Wine Pairing: Ramon Bilbao 2012 Gran Reserva Rioja – A complex, 90% Tempranillo wine aged for 30 months in American oak and an additional 48 months in the bottle. With aromas of ripe fruit, nougat, and cocoa, its well-integrated tannins and bold structure made it a standout pairing with the savory, umami flavors of the risotto and sausage.

Fourth Course: Caramel Corn & Panna Cotta & Pazo de Senorans Albarino 2022

Dish: A decadent panna cotta served with apricots and orange caramel corn.

Wine Pairing: Pazo de Senorans 2022 Albariño – A 100% Albariño from Spain’s Rias Baixas region, fermented in stainless steel vats to maintain its fresh, fruit-forward profile. During a recent date night, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining in the back room, which provided a serene ambiance and a picturesque view of the sunset over the W. Lake Houston Parkway bridge crossing the San Jacinto River. This setting perfectly complemented the culinary delights we were about to enjoy.​

I opted for the Churrasco a la Chimichurri, a sophisticated cut of tenderloin basted with their signature chimichurri sauce. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, embodying the rich traditions of Argentinean cuisine. My wife chose the Pechuga Crujiente, a plantain-crusted chicken breast topped with a Manchego cheese sauce. The crispy exterior combined with the creamy cheese created a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. 

To conclude our meal, we indulged in an assortment of fresh fruit sorbets, a refreshing and light dessert that cleansed the palate and provided a sweet ending to our evening.

Chimichurri’s menu is a testament to the diverse culinary traditions of South America, featuring dishes such as:​

• Empanadas Don Pedro: Argentinean-style pastries filled with your choice of chicken, beef, shrimp, or vegetables, served with a basil cream sauce. ​

• Ceviche Peruano: Shrimp and fish marinated in spicy lemon with purple onions, choclo, and sweet potatoes, offering a refreshing and zesty appetizer. ​

• Pargo Pistachio: Baby snapper with a pistachio crust, topped with lime and lemon butter sauce over whipped yellow potatoes and pan-seared scallops. ​

The restaurant’s resilience is noteworthy. After facing significant challenges during Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Chimichurri’s was the first in the Kings Harbor area to reopen in August 2018, showcasing their dedication to the community. ​
